| Two Ranked GLIAC Teams Fall 02-25-2005 |
Both Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) members currently ranked among the nation's top-25 in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll for NCAA, Division II women's basketball were defeated in conference action Thursday, February 24. Lake Superior State lost 79-77 at Northwood and Grand Valley State fell 67-57 at Michigan Tech. In Midland, Mich., Lake Superior State left by five at the half and by six in the second half, but Northwood came back to tie the score down the stretch. A layup by Northwood's Anna Trim with three seconds remaining proved to be the difference as Lake Superior State fell to 20-5 overall. In Houghton, Mich., a second half shooting drought was the downfall for Grand Valley State, which saw a school-record 16-game winning streak end. Grand Valley State is now 21-5. Lake Superior State and Grand Valley State remain tied atop the GLIAC standings as they head into the regular season finale. Lake Superior State plays at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, February 26. Grand Valley State is at Northern Michigan that same day.
