BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Former Western Washington men's basketball player Craig Roosendaal has signed a contract to play with Svendborg Rabbits in Denmark for the 2006-07 season.

Roosendaal, a 6-foot-7 forward, played two seasons at Western, averaging 13.2 points as a junior in 2003-04 and 11.7 as a senior in 2004-05.  He is Western's career leader in 3-point percentage at 47.4, hitting 157-of-331 attempts.

Roosendaal, a graduate of King's High School who also played at Edmonds CC, spent last season with the Bellingham Slam of the American Basketball Association, averaging 10.0 points a game.

Svendborg plays in the Basketliga, Denmark's top division, and was 9-11 last season.  They are coached by former Simon Fraser player Craig Pedersen.

Roosendaal is the third Viking to sign with a top division club in Europe this summer, as forward Tyler Amaya and guard Ryan Diggs, who played for Western last season, have joined Woon!Aris of the Eredivisie in Holland.  Another Western product, Harold Doyal, has spent the last decade with European clubs and is slated to play for Bremerhaven of the German top division this season.
