WBCA Announces D2 Superlatives

ATLANTA-The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) recently announced its winners for the 2008 WBCA Superlatives for NCAA Division II.

"I'd like to congratulate all of our 2008 WBCA Superlative winners," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "In just its second year, we are continuing to see growing popularity in this program on all levels. We hope to see even more members involved in the years to come."

Most Inspirational: Barbara Stevens (Bentley)

Most Likely to get a Technical Foul: David Smith (Bellarmine)

Best Pep Band: North Dakota

Rising Star: Ashlee Kelly (Mercy)

Best Coaching Combo: Barbara Stevens/Christine White (Bentley)

Most Fun to Watch (Coach or School): North Dakota

Best Community Support: North Dakota

Best Tradition: North Dakota

Best Host School: Stonehill

Most Competitive Coach: Gene Roebuck (North Dakota)
           

Nominations for the WBCA Superlatives were submitted through an online survey form. The top vote-getters for each superlative were then voted on through a balloting process, with the top vote-getter for each category being named the winner.

Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls.
