LOCK HAVEN, Pa.-Shippensburg women's basketball sophomore forward Lauren Beckley scored a school record 47 points, 30 of which came in the second half, as the Raiders won their ninth game out of the last 12, 76-69 at Lock Haven Wednesday, February 13.

The 47 points broke a 15-year old school record held by current head coach Kristy Trn who scored 45 against Cheyney on February 11, 1993.

Beckley's 47 points were also just one point shy of the all-time PSAC women's record for points in a game set by Terri Gunder of Millersville versus Rowan in 1971. She is now tied for second all-time in PSAC history with Jane Moffett of East Stroudsburg who also had 47 versus New York in 1951.

Beckley's previous career-high was 38 set at Cheyney on January 13 in an 82-73 victory. She also added a game-high 11 rebounds for her 18th double double this season and ninth-straight. She now has 25 for her career.

Wednesday's game featured 12 lead changes, including eight in the first half, the last of which came with four seconds remaining when sophomore guard Michelle Metz scored on a layup to give Shippensburg (17-6, 5-3 PSAC West) a 33-31 halftime lead. There were also 16 ties.

Lock Haven (7-15, 2-5 PSAC West) opened the second half with a 12-5 run to take its largest lead of the game, 44-38 with 16:03 remaining.

Beckley scored the next 13 consecutive points for the Raiders, outscoring the Eagles 13-8 to give her team the lead for good at 53-52 with 11:19 to play.

A 9-1 Shippensburg run, five of which came from Beckley, would increase its lead to eight before Lock Haven cut it back to three at 66-63 with 5:37 left. Beckley would then score seven of the Raiders final 10 points en route to the seven-point victory.

Beckley nearly outscored the Eagles by herself in the second half as her 30 points were just eight short.

Metz totaled eight points, a career-high seven rebounds and six assists for Shippensburg while senior guard Megan Fogle and freshman forward Kasey Gardner each had seven points.
