Game 1:  Premier Pontiac 102, Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet 90

Jeremy Black of Tampa and Ryan Williams of Pace led five players in double figures with 22 points apiece as Premier Pontiac defeated Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet 102-90 in the first game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

Premier Pontiac will now play the winner of game two at 10 a.m. Friday in the winner's bracket. Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet will now play the loser of game two between Galaxy-First Merit at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Williams, 9-for-13 from the field, scored 14 of his 22 points in the first-half as Premier Pontiac used a 16-0 spurt in the first-half to break-open a 16-16 tie en route to a nine-point halftime lead at 55-46. Also scoring in double figures for Premier Pontiac was Jerome Pierce of Notre Dame (Ohio) and Sam Belt of Central Oklahoma with 15 points each, while Rod Banks of California (Pa.) added 13 points. Belt grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the win and Pierce dished out nine assists and pulled down seven boards.

Leading the way for Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet was Brad Harris of Lee with 23 points as he connected on six of his seven three-point attempts. Collins Harris of Drury added 20 points, while DeAndre Townsend of Emporia State contributed with 14 points.

Game 2: First Merit 95, Galaxy 80

Jeff Ferguson of Pikeville led six players in double figures with 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds as First Merit defeated Galaxy 95-80 in the second game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

First Merit will now play Premier Pontiac at 10 a.m. Friday in the winner's bracket. Galaxy will now play Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ferguson, 3-for-3 from behind the three-point line, scored 11 of his in the first-half as First Merit used a 16-2 spurt early in the second stanza to overcome a four-point deficit at 53-49 to take a 10-point lead at 65-55. Also scoring in double figures for First Merit was Othyus Jeffers of Robert Morris (Ill.) with 17 points, while Charlie Parker of Millersville added 12. Norman Plummer of Southern Indiana and Jeremy Weddle of Lambuth chipped in with 11 points. Steve Dagostino of St. Rose pumped in 10 points and dished out a game-high nine assists, which tied a tournament record. Plummer grabbed nine rebounds in the victory.  

Leading the way for Galaxy was Troy Ruths of Washington (Mo.) with 16 points. Casey Holt of North Alabama provided the tournament's first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Grand Valley's Callistus Eziukwu grabbed a tournament record 17 rebounds. Nick Harrington of Southern Vermont added 15 points, while Kameron Gray of Oklahoma City scored 14.

Game 3:  Louis Perry & Associates 95, MBM Logistechs 78

Sean Barnette of Wingate led five players in double figures with 20 points as Louis Perry & Associates defeated MBM Logistechs 95-78 in the third game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

Louis Perry & Associates will now play the winner of Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital -City of Wadsworth at Noon Friday in the winner's bracket. MBM Logistechs will now play the loser of the Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital-City of Wadsworth game at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Barnette scored 15 of his 20 points in the second-half as he helped Louis Perry & Associates rally from 13-point first-half deficit. Also scoring in double figures for Louis Perry & Associates was Matt Hall of Harding and Adam Hepker of Mid-American Nazarene with 14 points each. Marcus Hubbard of Angelo State chipped with 13 points and Mardochee Jean of Hardin-Simmons posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Leading the way for MBM Logistechs was Willie Irick of Oklahoma City with 20 points. Kentucky Wesleyan's Rodney Edgerson poured in 14 points and Josh Porter of Louisiana State-Shreveport added 12 points.

Game 4:  City of Wadsworth 99, WRH Health System 78

Ollie Bailey of Oklahoma City, Cory Abercrombie of Pittsburg State and Michael Sturns of Holy Family combined for 71 points to lead the City of Wadsworth to a 99-78 win over Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital in the fourth game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

City of Wadsworth will now play Louis Perry & Associates at Noon Friday in the winner's bracket. Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital will now play MBM Logistechs at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Bailey scored a game-high 27 points as he set a new tournament record with 13 field goals made in a game and added nine rebounds in the win. Abercrombie and Sturns both scored 22 points with Abercrombie adding 10 rebounds to record a double-double.

Leading the way for Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital was Devario Hudson of Valdosta State with 25 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. James Cooper of Wooster added 15 points, while Avery Patterson of Tarleton State chipped in with 13 points and Atila Santos contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. 

Game 5:  Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet 104, Galaxy 99

Tramaine Stevens of Florida Memorial led six players in double figures with 25 points as Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet defeated Galaxy 104-99 in the losers' bracket of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet will now play the winner of game six between MBM-Logistechs/Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital at 4 p.m. Friday in the fifth-place game. Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet will now play the loser of game six between MBM-Logistechs/Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital at 2 p.m. Friday in the seventh-place game.

Stevens scored 13 of his 25 in the second-half as he helped Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet erase a 12-point second-half deficit at 67-55. Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet used 14-0 run to take the lead at 69-67 and hung on to win its first game of the tournament. Also scoring in double figures for Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet was Collins Harris of Drury and
Anthony Williams of Plattsburgh State 17 points each, while Marko Klaric added 13 points. Brad Harris of Lee chipped in with 12 points and Emporia State's DeAndre Townsend had a double-double as he dished out a tournament single-game record 12 assists, while pouring in 10 points.

Leading the way for Galaxy was Oregon Tech's Ryan Fiegi with 20 points and eight rebounds. Callistus Eziukwu of Grand Valley State added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Adron Marshall of Mountain State chipped in with 16 points, Casey Holt of North Alabama pumped in 14 points and Washington's (Mo.) Troy Ruths contributed with 13 points. Kameron Gray just missed a three-double as he had eight points to go along with seven rebounds and nine assists.

Game 6: MBM Logistechs 96, Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital 87

Willie Irick of Oklahoma City scored 21 points and Brad Byerson of Virginia Union had 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead MBM Logistechs to a 96-87 win over Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital in the sixth game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational Thursday, April 24.

MBM Logistechs will play Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet at 4 p.m. Friday in the fifth-place game, while Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital will now play Galaxy at 2 p.m. Friday in the seventh-place game.

Helping MBM Logistechs to the victory was Texas A&M-Commerce's Scooby Johnson with 17 points, while Ben Strong of Guilford added 14 points and eight rebounds. Kentucky Wesleyan's Rodney Edgerson chipped in with 10 points.

Leading the way for Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital was James Cooper of Wooster with 22 points, while Devario Hudson of Valdosta State contributed with 15 points and six rebounds. Larry Welton of Aurora added 15 points in the loss.
